Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) deficiency may lead to anemia, depression, dermatitis, high blood pressure (hypertension), water retention, and elevated levels of homocysteine.
If you know of anyone on "anti-depressants", ask them to check the ingreedients of their medication to see if it contains inactive ingreedient "Pirodoxine" (vitamin B-6). The doctor cant get rich by putting you on B-6, but must monitor patients on perscription anti-depressants

OVERDOSAGES
One look at that photo on the left, and we know that author Alan Pressman PhD is getting his B Vitamins, as much as I may try (on the right), I think he has me beat in B Vitamin
consumption. Warning: There is a serious overdose level (read
"Toxicity Level" below) for both B-6 Pyridoxine and B-3 Niacin, other
than that, the SKY IS THE LIMIT. Considering what people pay
for a pack of cigarettes, or a drink at a bar, B Vitamins are very cheap, even
in the large dosages. It might behoove you to take some large dosages.

B Vitamins not only help ones feelings of well being, but also help one be a more Coherent, Rational individual, (in a world which is seriously lacking in coherency and rational behavior).
LACK OF B VITAMINS CAUSES DEPRESSION
When people get depressed, doctors give them a Vitamin B
injection. You can save the doctor visit, just go to the store for Vitamin B
Complex, or treat yourself to the doctors injection and stock up on B vitamins
daily so to keep yourself that way (they go in depressed and come out happy and
smiling).

"Come on Dave, were all going to the Bellagio Buffet for breakfast before going to the convention", "no,
that's ok, you guys go ahead, I'LL JUST GO sit in the Keno lounge".

OR "Come on Herman, we want to get you in this photograph too, come on over Herman", "no, that's ok, I don't wanna be in the picture, YOU GO AHEAD WITHOUT ME".
The key words are usually "no
that's ok, you go ahead
without me". They feel rejected, and they put themselves in that
position, they do it to themselves. Why? because they, like millions of
other Americans, are severely low in B Vitamins (if they only knew, and even
then, once informed, they sometimes refuse to take the B Vitamins, and eventually hopefully see
a doctor who gives them a B Vitamin Injection).

OR "I came to Las Vegas to have a fun time, but I'm not really having fun, isn't there anything to do for fun around here?" Well you spent a fortune for your air fare, hotel room, meals, and gambling, why not go to CVS or one of the
Walgreen's on The Las Vegas Strip and pick up a B Vitamin supplement (100 mg size) for only around $7 to $12, that will get you having fun.

PROPER DOSAGES
You should get a Multi Vitamin and Multi
Mineral every day, and yes they do contain B Vitamins, and
may even have the full RDA "recommended daily allowance" or newer
RDI "recommended daily intake" both set by the Federal Government,
however, both RDA or RDI may be enough to keep you alive, but is not nearly
enough to keep you Happy. So the vitamin companies all make B Supplements or
"multi B's" in larger dosages typically called: "Vitamin B Complex", "B Stress Formula", "B 1000", "B 50", "B 100", and other various names by independent manufacturers), which
contain: B1 Thiamin, B2 Riboflavin, B3 Niacin or
Niacin amide, B6 Pyridoxine, and B12 Cobalamin.

GOOD BRANDS a good brand should have

Synthetic Vitamins are cheap and are just as good as Natural Vitamins (as per Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw
book "Life Extension"). A cheap multi vitamin / mineral is better than nothing. It will keep you alive, having the bare minimum required for life, but it does not have enough of the B Vitamins to keep you Happy.
I get all my vitamins from the Health Food Store (a bit more expensive), as I am a vegetarian, and regular vitamins have non-vegetarian stuff in
there, so I must get specific brands labeled as "Vegetarian" or better
yet "Vegan". These brand names also make non-vegetarian
vitamins, so read EACH label of EACH item you get).

BETTER BUY? Any grocery store or pharmacy where vitamins are sold. Any brand name. Some may be initially cheaper, but often the dosage is much smaller, thus it may not be the better
buy. You will have to compare and estimate. 60 tabs of 25 mg for
$5.50???, or 50 tabs of 100 mg for $11.00??? (the later being the better
buy).
INSTRUCTIONS: You can take them with a glass of water (admittedly, they taste kind of "gaggy", but they sure do make you Happy,
within 30 Minutes), and you can take them with a meal or on an empty stomach.
(Better to take them with Water than coffee or soda, just to get them down the
throat, as coffee and soda are both acidic, and water is just easier).
IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD B SUPPLEMENTS DAILY for a while, I would advise taking 600 mg per day for at least 2 days, just to get you back in the pink.
WARNING: if you have been low on your B Vitamins and suddenly take a large
dosage, you may experience convulsions of laughter (you'll get over
it). I met an RN (Regestered Nurse) and asked how many milligrams (mg) of B Vitamins she consumed per day, she said 1,000 mg, I laughed and she said "but I need to" (with all the good work she does, good for her). 1,000 mg /day is safe.

Andrew Weil's "Eating Well for Optimum Health" says (pg 126) "The
recommended daily allowances (RDAs) set by government agencies
were determined only with a view to preventing deficiency states,
not to promoting optimum health or treating specific medical
conditions".

So get the 100 mg size and take up to 3 per day
TOXICITY LEVEL for B-6 Pyridoxine and B-3 Niacin
Warning: do not take 2,000 mg of B6 Pyridoxine daily (nor greater), else you could get Temporary nerve damage (Shari Lieberman specifies it as
"Temporary"). You would have to take 20 tablets per day of the strongest B Supplement to do that (keep it to 10 or less per day to be safe).
However, I am of the opinion that B-6 may be Cumulative, and 500 mg or higher on a permanent basis, might be what caused my foot cramping (however, I already had a foot problem, this just might have triggered the already existing
problem. I could find no documentation on this, but I did cut back on B-6
by taking B-1, B-2, B-3, B-12, and Folic Acid in separate pills for a week or
so, and the problem went away, then I found I could take a 100 mg size of multi
B, but if I went over it would start again, and after a couple of months I was
able to take at least 200 mg per day
FLUSHING & TURNING RED IS NORMAL & HEALTHY: 250
mg of Niacin (B3) makes you Flush, Itch, and Turn Red (around 30 minutes after you ingest it, or sooner or later),
this is normal, OK, and is excellent for cleaning out fat deposits in your arteries and blood veins, however,
Niacinamide (also B3) does not Flush and Itch (however, it does not clean your arteries and blood veins), so opt for Niacin, not Niacinamide
NO TOXICITY LEVEL for B-1 B-2, and B-12, The Sky is The Limit
There is no toxicity level known for B1, B2, and B12, and a few manufacturers make a separate B12 with 500 mcg,
1,000 mcg, 3,000 mcg, and even 5,000 mcg (take 1 to 3 times daily, stick under your tongue and let it dissolve underneath your tongue for more efficient absorption). I get at least a total of 5,000 mcg of B12 over a 24 hour period (used to take 20,000 per day for a while), and have notices that my musical abilities and coordination have greatly improved since I have been taking the larger dosages, as B-12 helps ones "Mental/Physical Coordination" (good for musicians and athletes). Many people take a separate B12, in addition to a "multi B" (As the amount of B12 in a B-100 is so small, typically only 100 mcg or 0.1 mg).
WHAT DOSAGE OF B VITAMINS DO I TAKE DAILY? (2008)
I get around 700 mg of B Complex (7 caps, with each B Vitamin at 100 mg (B-12 100 mcg))
And at least 25,000 mcg of B-12 per day (at 2,500 mcg tablet size, thats at least 10 tablets, often double that). Some manufactures make B-12 in various sizes, the most common is either 500 mcg or 1000 mcg, but I would advise getting at least a 2,000 mcg size or greater, such as 3,000 mcg and 5,000 mcg).
NON-EXPERTS WHO WATCH TV AND DON'T READ, SAY:
"You don't really need that much, after your body absorbs what it needs,
the rest is flushed out of the body in the urine".
WRONG KIMOSABE: As I gradually increased my intake of B Vitamins, over many
months (many Moons ago), I noticed a great difference. The amounts listed
here are the right amounts which you should be getting.
NON-EXPERTS WHO WATCH TV and DON'T READ, SAY:
"I eat a healthy diet, I get all the vitamins and minerals I need thru
those foods naturally". WRONG AGAIN KIMOSABE: If you ask
those people how much you need of which vitamin, or what the natural source is,
they can't tell you, and they don't smile like author experts Alan Pressman PhD,
Dr. Andrew Weil, Shari Lieberman , or myself. (photos on this page).
B Vitamins naturally occur in Liver, which is so extremely high in Cholesterol,
that it is dangerously Toxic to your system to get them thru that source.
But just so you should know, in the event of a World War 3 Nuclear Holocaust,
after the radiation fallout and cloud cover clears (2 years), if you are still
alive, you can come out of your hiding hole and search for liver if you
must. But as long as we have a civilized world with vitamin manufacturers
making B Vitamins, help yourself, they are cheap and healthy. But that's
up to you.
